From J. D. Barksdale to Gov. Ben Paulen

Description:

Letter from Rev. J. D. Barksdale, editor of the Western Christian Recorder, to Governor Ben Paulen regarding concerns about F. J. Peck, president of Western University. Barksdale writes to offer the opinion that Superintendent F. J. Peck "has not had a square deal by some who are connected with the school, and by many outside meddlers," and indicates that teachers were told to oppose Peck to ensure their own reappointment to keep them "in a state of constant rebellion." He recommends Paulen speak to Peck about the poor morale at the school, and ensure teachers "are made to understand that the board will stand behind Peck."
