Frances B. Ryan, "Indicted"

Clipping of Frances B. Ryan from the Kansas City Journal-Post on April 1, 1937 with caption stating, "Mrs. Frances Ryan, Pendergast political leader of the Twelfth ward, county Democratic committeewoman, and superintendent of the Jackson County Parental school, was charged in an indictment returned by the federal grand jury Thursday, with violating a national election law in the November election. She is said to have been the first woman ward leader in Kansas City."

Form letter from Thomas J. Pendergast to William T. Kemper, Sr. in which Pendergast urges the receipient to take the originally attached sample ballot to the polls to use to vote for the candidates selected by Pendergast and the Jackson Democratic Club.

Ford Tri-Motor "The Kansas City" at Municpial Airport

Beach, christening "The Kansas City", a Transcontinental Air Transport (TAT) Ford Tri-Motor airplane, by pouring water from the Missouri River upon the propeller at Municipal Airport. TAT merged with Transcontinental and Western Air (TWA) the following year.

Ford Employees In Line to Receive Pay

Clipping entitled "Getting Their Pay" from the Kansas City Journal-Post on October 18, 1937 with caption stating, "Scores of Ford assembly plant employes were in line today at window No. 9, Commerce Trust company, to receive wages following the closing of the Ford assembly plant here. Some employes turned in their badges and tool receipts, receiving $3 deposit, while others kept their badges and receipts."

Fokker F.32 and Ford Tri-Motor Airplanes at Municipal Airport

Photograph of one Fokker F.32 airplane (left) and three Ford Tri-Motor airplanes (right) displayed for a large crowd of several thousand at Municipal Airport, April 4, 1930. This F.32, NC334N, was one of two owned by Western Air Express, and shows "Fox Flying House Party, Western Air Express, New York to Hollywood" on the fuselage. Mary McElroy among others left on this 32-passenger airplane the next day. The Ford Tri-Motor airplanes were owned by Transcontinental Air Transport (TAT) - Maddux Air Lines, which merged with Transcontinental and Western Air (TWA) that year.

Fire Station No. 31

Clipping from September 22, 1931 showing Kansas City Fire Station No. 31. The caption states, "Equipment will be moved today into the new No. 31 fire station at 4516 Troost avenue. The site and building cost $54,000. The station is equipped with a steam heating plant, showers, electric refrigerators and other conveniences. It will house pumper company No. 6, now at fire headquarters, and hook and ladder company No. 8 and district fire chiefs now at Sixtieth street and Troost avenue. A celebration of its opening is being arranged for sometime this week."

Clipping from September 22, 1931 showing Kansas City Fire Station No. 11. The caption states, "The No. 11 station, on the old work-house property at Twenty-first and Vine streets, cost $20,500. It will be the quarters of the Negro company. A celebration of its opening is being arranged for 3:30 o’clock Sunday."

Ernest S. Gantt Political Advertisement

Advertisement stating that the "Your vote to re-nominate Ernest S. Gantt, Democratic Candidate for Judge of the Supreme Court, will be personally appreciated by The Pendergast Organization." The card was produced by the Eighth Ward Democratic Club, Inc. for the primary election on Tuesday, August 4th, 1936. No signature is included on the blank for Precinct Captain.
