St. Luke's Hospital

View shows the south wing of St. Luke's Hospital under construction. This was the first addition to the original building. This picture was taken looking southwest just south of the 4300 block of Mill Creek Parkway (now J C Nichols Parkway). Although the original building pictured still stands, it is now obstructed from view on J C Nichols Parkway by hospital extension to the east.

Completed construction of Southwest High School at 65th Street and Wornall Road.

Snowplow at Work in Oak Meyer Gardens

Motorized snowplows are called into action to clear the sidewalks of J. C. Nichols Companies homes in the Oak Meyer Gardens subdivision. This vantage point faces west on 65th Street just west of Cherry Street. Southwest High School at Wornall Road and 65th Street can be seen in the far background.

Shawnee Indian Mission

The restored dormitory building of the Shawnee Indian Mission. This building is located at the northeastern corner of 52nd Street and Porter Road (now 53rd Street and Mission Road). This vantage point faces north on present day 53rd Street from just east of Mission Road.

Ruhr Dairy

The Ruhr Dairy located just west of Belinder Road (now Belinder Avenue) and south of 54th Street. 54th Street in Kansas once ran directly east from the present intersection of Shawnee Mission Parkway and State Park Road. Although once part of Mission, Kansas, this area was developed by J. C. Nichols and incorporated as Fairway, Kansas.

Romanelli Shops at 71st Street and Wornall Road

This picture was taken looking northwest just south of the intersection of 71st Street (now Gregory Boulevard) and Wornall Road. In November 1925, a shopping center known as Romanelli Shops was completed at the southwest corner of Wornall Road and 71st Street. These shops included R. L. Fish and Sons Grocers, Mason's Pharmacy, O. D. Stewart Barber Shop, Ambassador Cleaners, and a Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store.

Romanelli Gardens

Romanelli Gardens, the northeast portion of the Armour Farm, just west of Wornall Road and south of 67th Street, has been added to the developing section of the Country Club District. This vantage point faces north-northeast at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 68th Terrace were this fountain was once located. The houses on the northern side of 68th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Wornall Road can be seen in the background and the steeple of the Sixth Church of Christ Scientist at 400 West 67th Street can be seen to the right in the far background.
