19 Indictment in Criminal Case No. 14117: United States vs. Harry Goldberg, Dennis Sheedy, Frank Mulvihill, Mary Goldstein, William A. Gorman, Dick Burrus, and Ralph "Red" Rosenberg, defendants. The defendants were charged with conspiring to impede citizens' right to vote and have that vote truthfully counted in the 15th Precinct of the 1st Ward during the November 3, 1936 election. The indictment states that votes for the Republican candidate were instead counted for other candidates, and that the defendants knew the count as recorded on tally sheets and other statements was "false, fradulent, untrue and corrupt." More than 80 votes were shifted from Lowell R. Johnson to Joseph B. Shannon in the 5th District Congressional race. Goldberg, Sheedy, Mulvihill, and Goldstein were acting as election judges, and Gorman and Burrus served as election clerks.
